Do you want to swim with the COOL kids? Do you want to be a member of the COOLEST club in all of the Greater Phoenix Area?
Dad jokes aside, Chilly Burro Winter Swim Club is a swim group that I founded in an effort to create a social environment and promote cold water swimming in the Phoenix area. The club starts up annually when the water temperature dips under 70 degrees, running down to the bottom of about 48 degrees and back up to 70 again. It's hosted at Lake Pleasant at the end of Desert Tortoise Road on alternating Saturdays at 10:00AM (Events posted on the AZ Open Water Swimming Facebook group (Join today)).
Within the group I teach cold water acclimation success techniques and provide gear recommendations. Periodically I may also speak about sighting. There is no charge to participate in the Chilly Burro Winter Swim Club, and there's swag and merch available that is generally humorous and warm (who could ask for anything more). Come out and get some exposure, it's proven to be good for the body and mind. Wetsuits and thermal caps are welcome, swimming skins is encouraged but by no means expected or required. So come as you are, if you just stand in waist high water for more than two minutes, it counts!
All are welcome, especially the Burros.
