- Kristian - I had the pleasure of getting coached by Arlo prior to my Ironman Race. I had difficulty with Open Water Swimming and was unable to translate pool speed to the Open Water. Arlo assisted me with the mindset I needed for Open Water Swimming (Sports psychology), workouts, drills, and with him swimming by my side he gave me comfort and I did not feel alone. The coaching translated well during the race and I felt "present" and confident entering the water. Open Water Swimming is a different animal/sport all together and I highly recommend Arlo for Open Water Swim coaching.
- Yogesh (Father) and Shon (Son / Student) - We have been associated with Arlo for more than two years now, and it has been an absolute pleasure to have him on our side as coach for my son Shon. Arlo coaches him well, by explaining the nuances of the technique in easy to follow terms, and by giving drills. Additionally he provides workouts to practice at home to emphasize the techniques taught so that they become second nature. Not only that but he provides useful tips on nutrition to ensure that the Open Water Swims are a breeze. My 11 year old son enjoys his time in the water with Arlo so much that the lake swims that he used to hate have become an enjoyable experience. We can't thank Arlo enough in helping us to cultivate the liking of Open Water Swimming for my son Shon.
- Eric M - "I started swimming around the age of 21. I had no formal "swim team" experience in my childhood. When I first started with Arlo, almost every area of my technique needed lots of work. We worked together twice a week for a few years within the Masters program at Lifetime. Arlo was always on deck or in the pool monitoring stroke form and providing swim sessions that were always well thought out. I went from a back of the pack swimmer to the front. And 6-7 years later, I still try to implement many of the coaching critiques he gave me. From beginner to expert, Arlo can help you become a better swimmer!"
- Mark C - "Former College wrestler, Judo and MMA competitor. After 7 major surgeries, I pivoted training to running/biking.
A few years ago, I made the decision to take on my first Triathlon. I was in the best shape of my life at this point but had zero experience swimming. I did some research and found Arlo in a local Facebook group for Open Water Swimming. This was the best decision I made for getting prepared for my race. I met with Arlo at Lake Pleasant. I will never forget my first session. I could not swim 25 yards without having to stop and hang on to my buoy to catch my breath. He took his time with me and showed me the basics. Also, gave me a workout plan for swimming at home and gym pool. And for breath work and flexibility. Slowly but surely, I was able to improve on my technique. And able to swim further without breaks. After 3 months of consistent training. Meeting with Arlo 1-2 times per week. I completed in my first Olympic Distance Triathlon. I placed first in my division!
I went from barley being able to swim 25 yards, to going out to the lake and swimming for 60-90 minutes without needing a break. I could not have done this without Arlo’s coaching. I have had dozens of coaches throughout life in competitive sports. I know what makes a good coach. Honesty, Accountability, Confidence, and Integrity are all qualities Arlo has.
